Students annotate a reading which provides background and then learn about the somewhat symbiotic relationship between daimyo, samurai, and peasants by analyzing a chart. Arrows are used to detail the "give and take" between each member of society. There is also a question which leads students to discover why merchants were regarded as the lowest position in society.
