This is a two-part activity that could be used in introduce the idea/moment in history when Japanese Internment was part of American society. The first part of this activity asks students to watch George Takei's TED Talk (link provided) and write statements of reaction. The second part of this activity asks students to read an article (link provided) about the 75th Anniversary of Japanese Internment and answer 3 questions.

This two-part activity will take roughly 30-40 minutes and could be followed with discussion thereby taking up an entire class period, while examining two different sources that provide insight and information to the history of Japanese Internment.
