This was a reading unit which I used with resource students grades 4-6. We had the fortune of meeting a Japanese internment camp survivor and were able to get to know her and ask questions. The students really got into this unit and the grave injustice that was done to many Japanese Americans.
Enjoy this unit and suggestions! Our community of learners enjoyed the stories and art projects, and asked questions about what they viewed as an unjust yet amazing period of time. They were reading and discussing important events which should never be repeated, and became a true community of learners. In this unit you will find:
Writing suggestions for a letter from the point of few of a child who is interned
Art project directions
Bulletin board suggestion
Special Education Interactive Notebook Bundle
