This Teaching and Learning resource is designed for younger students of Japanese to learn to ask and answer the question たんじょうびは何月ですか。using the months of the year. 一月～十二月.
No romaji is included.
The unit does assume students have already learned how to count, at least to ten, in Japanese, and can recognise kanji number symbols. Some number revision pages are included, however, in the Student Workbook pages which can be included or omitted at the discretion of the teacher.
I do have various resources on Teachers Pay Teachers to help teach NUMBERS. These include
Japanese Kanji Number Mnemonics
Japanese: Kanji Number Posters
Japanese Kanji Number Domino Line-up
Japanese kanji Number Peg cards
Kanji Numbers SPOONS GAME
THIS RESOURCE contains:
15 Student workbook pages, including several assessment tasks and rubric
Months of the Year Song
Flashcards and playing card sets ( Japanese and English versions) + ideas for use
24 Bingo cards
Months of the year ‘spinner’
Set of headbands for game play—explained
Pop-up birthday card to make
2 jigsaw puzzles ( sequencing cards that create an image)
Set of ‘I have, Who has’ game cards, with explanation
2 peg match hexagon cards
I have included a possible teaching sequence to demonstrate how to link the activities together, but there is considerable flexibility in the inclusion or omission of a number of the tasks.
I hope you and your students greatly enjoy using this resource!
