Reading, understanding, and citing primary sources are an integral aspect to the Common Core Standards. This lesson focuses on two letters Thomas Jefferson wrote his 11-year old daughter while at the Constitutional Convention, and includes the primary sources, a vocabulary activity, questions, and an answer key. Middle school students particularly find it interesting to read what a future president, from a very different time, would write his daughter. Teachers probably will too!
