    Set of activities for use with the story The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. Includes reading questions, graphic organizers, literary essay, movie vs. book comparison and 16 culminating projects. Culminating projects provided with options for differentiation with a set of 16 offered as Task Cards, as a Choice Board, and as a Student Menu version. Many options to pick from to fit your classroom needs.


    Reading , Critical Thinking and Quiz Questions-- Reading questions in order of the text and divided by chapter. Includes recall and inference, plus answer key. Critical Thinking questions have students dig deeper into the text to respond to the questions; includes short rubric and optional paragraph model. Assessment questions has 10 short answer questions that can be used as a quiz or end of book/ unit test, with key.

    Graphic Organizers: set of graphic organizers for analyzing the text, including a KWL. Jekyll versus Hyde chart compares the two characters. Witness to Hyde reviews which people saw Hyde and what they learned/ felt. Timeline of Events has students put the events of the story into chronological order. Word Webs include Setting, Jekyll, Hyde, Utterson and blank ‘your choice’. Answer keys included.

    Literary Essay: Choice of 5 literary essay topic choices for students to use in analyzing the text and providing support. Includes rubric, planning worksheet, and Quick Guide to Literary Essays reference sheet.

    Movie vs Book Several choices for comparing the text with all or part of any movie version. Includes comparison table for the movie vs. book, a Best of Both worlds evaluation, and two different final evaluation writing activities.

    Culminating Projects: Set of 16 culminating projects for use with the text, offered as Task Cards, Choice Board and Student Menu versions. Rubrics included. Alternate POV and Alternate ending projects are part of the Culminating Projects set (as choices) but also provided as separate stand-alone activities.

    Alternate Point of View Project Students will choose from either Hyde’s or Poole’s point of view to retell the story. The will have to decide what details their selected narrator will know. Rubric, prewriting and reflection included.

    Alternate Ending Project Students will chose from one of three plot points in the story to use in writing a new ending. Students will need to reference previous events and stay true to the characters. Includes options for a narrative and for a graphic novel version, with rubrics.

    The Search for Hyde At the end of the story, Hyde is found dead, but what about Jekyll? In this activity, students will combine analysis with creative writing to create a police report for the search for Henry Jekyll.

    Vocabulary Terms and Phrases 228 vocab terms and phrases from the text for students to define. Includes terms list, divided by chapter. Also has Task Cards for jigsawing or other use. Challenging terms are provided with definition cards/ slides as well.
