Product Description
I used this handout for my 4th-6th graders during our body systems unit. We discussed the nervous system, the brain, and why you should use a helmet in previous lessons before we started this project. The challenge was to use the materials provided to create the best helmet for their "head" (jello cup) with a partner. I provided them with materials like packing peanuts, string, toilet paper, fabric scraps, solo cups, etc. When they were done making their "helmet", they were to draw what the jello cup looked like with the new helmet and explain their reasoning for picking the materials they used. Then, we dropped/threw them off the roof of the school (two stories). After the drop, they were to draw what their "head" looked like to show how it had been damaged and describe what they would change next time. They had a blast with this! Enjoy!
