To learn about the political, social, and economic aspects of life in the major cities of Latin America.
1 class period
The class is divided into two teams for the playing of a Jeopardy game about life in the cities of Latin America. To begin, a person from Team 1 is asked to pick a category and point value from the chart. For example, someone might choose “BIG CITIES FOR 20.” This person then reads the statement and tries to identify the missing word or name. The number of letters in the answer is given in parentheses. An answer which has more than one word is also noted in parentheses. There are letter clues as well. A correct answer earns the team 20 points. If a wrong answer is given, the question can be selected again later in the game. Play continues with Team 2 taking its turn.
Jeopardy categories include:
• Big Cities
• The Rich
• The Middle Class and the Poor
• Urban Problems
Easy-to-follow Teacher Instructions and answer key included, along with a 20-question follow up quiz to measure student progress. The quiz can also be given as a homework assignment or used as a review exercise later in the school year.
