Do you have students who vacation during the school year? Are you oftentimes running around trying to gather work for them before they go? I do! I have created a travel journal for students to take with them on their trip, instead of sending tedious workbook pages and guessing where we'll be in a week.
Included in this travel journal packet of fun is:
Math activities such as:
*Keeping track of the weather and analyzing the data
*Finding numbers on the trip and then figuring out what 1 more, 1 less, 10 more and 10 less than that number is!
*Finding groups of objects that represent numbers 2-9
Literacy Activities include:
*Daily writing pages for up to 10 days (that's the most I've had a student out)
*Word fun----figuring out how many words can be made out of the word of the place the student traveled to!
*Uh, Oh! Writing about any PROBLEMS they may have encountered on their trip and writing what SOLUTIONS there were!
*It Happened Because... Looking for cause and effect relationships while traveling
*Setting-writing (or drawing) the different places (setting!) that were visited
*My Life Is A Story---writing about the setting (place that was visited) the characters (who was with them) and First, Next, Then and Last of the trip!
*Word Tracker---reading or listening to find any new or interesting words that were learned while on the trip.
All of these pages could be put into a packet for students or you can pick and choose depending on what the student's ability is! A parent note is also included to send along with them!
