Students use puzzle pieces to answer questions individually and come back together to complete the puzzle. Questions can be student-chosen or teacher-directed.

Literacy groups and other Collaborative Group Work activities are more and more common. Jigsaw Literacy Groups are one way to encourage students to work together and communicate while ensuring that all students have a role and are accountable for their individual contribution.

Cut apart the puzzle pieces. Each student in the group is responsible for one piece. Pieces can be reassembled and glued onto a separate piece of paper. Students should be encouraged to be as creative as possible for their puzzle piece response.
