This Puzzle Activity is part of:
☑ 2017 Google Interactive Products
This ❤ Digital Interactive Activity ❤
is an engaging practice of working with “Finding Zeros of Polynomial Functions"
. This is a BLENDED Activity as a HARD COPY of the activity is included in this product. This products has a total of 12 questions
assessing the ability to work with identifying the zeros (roots, solutions, x
-intercepts) of a given Polynomial Function. This is LEVEL 4
(Requires Factoring and Some zeros are Fractions). An EASIER – LEVEL 1
version is available as a FREEBIE HERE
. This activity is great for DIFFERENTIATION
This activity is self-checking
. At the end of the activity, students would have formed a picture. Correct picture implies finding the correct answers. Year after year, my students always enjoy working with a "Jigsaw Puzzle“
activity. They appreciate this type of activity as it allows them to be independent and find their "own mistakes"
before seeking any help.
This is LEVEL 4 of Finding Zeros of Polynomial Functions as:
☑ 5 Polynomial Functions are factored into linear factors
☑ 7 Polynomial Functions need to be factored out into linear factors
☑ Zeros are INTEGERS and FRACTIONS
☑ There are multiple zeros, hence, the term MULTIPLICITY
is used in this activity
☑ The ± is used in this activity
Students should feel comfortable with:
☑ Identifying the zeros of the given factored linear factors
☑ Factor GCF (which is the variable x
in this activity)
☑ Factor Trinomial of the form: ax
² + bx + c , where a maybe 1 or an integer
☑ Factor Difference of Two Squares, where a is 1 or an integer
☑ Factor Perfect Square Trinomial, where a is 1 or an integer
☑ Solve 1-Step Equations
☑ Solve 2-Step Equations as some Zeros are Fractions
☑ The meaning of the term MULTIPLICITY
In this activity students will be using Google Slides. Some students used their computers, some used their phones, while others used their IPADs. As long as there is a Google Drive there is a way.
Don’t forget to checkout the PREVIEW as it has the questions of this puzzle. The answer key is included in the file. I usually share it when all assignments are turned in "Electronically"
