This activity features the four stakeholders in the campaign to repopulate wolves in the Rockies. Split the class into fours, assign a role for each student. You can then have groups read the same article using a Read-and-Say-Something Strategy, or you can assign for homework--put online and save some paper (and work.) Add your favorite note-taking strategy for an extra step.
Once homogenous groups have read their roles, you jigsaw, or put all the pieces together. Students speak, question, collaborate, and hypothesize as they complete the process focusing on problems and solutions. The activity culminates in a writing activity as students synthesize all the information to create an unbiased informational essay.
