A jigsaw activity on the parts of a cell. Students are assigned one cell part to research as one of 8 groups. Then the whole class participates in pooling information from all groups (teacher-led jigsaw activity). Designed for high school Biology or Anatomy/Physiology course. Intended for introduction to unit or lesson on Cells, but carries as a review sheet for students to keep.
Cell parts covered include plasma(cell) membrane, cell wall, cytoplasm, and basic organelles (nucleus, vacuole, chloroplast, mitochondria, ribosome). Students research functions, locations, and visual representations of all cell parts. Any class set of Biology textbooks will provide research material. Can also incorporate online research in the library/ computer lab.
