Is your choir performing Reginald Unterseher's arrangement of "Jim Along Josie?" I've got the choreography all ready to go!
This video includes a series of three teaching videos you can show your choir and not have to hire a choreographer! Please watch the preview to get a feel for the product.
Video # 1: This video outlines the five basic moves used in the choreography for this song. (At marker 10:15 in the video)
Video # 2: This video goes through the choreography for the song measure by measure. (At marker 4.00 in the video)
Video # 1: This up tempo video presents the choreography for this song with choreography cues given while an accompaniment MP3 plays in the background.
The choreography for this arrangement of the song was created for an elementary district honor choir festival of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. The arrangement allows the students to focus on singing while still getting their bodies moving and entertaining the audience. I didn't want to overwhelm the singers with too much motion because of the mixed meter and challenging rhythms going on between the vocal parts and the piano accompaniment so there are only five basic motions. I simply took Unterseher's basic performance notes and built on them.
I also thought a lot about about how you will be using this video in your classroom. I put the videos in reverse order; Video #3, Video #2 and then Video #1 assuming that you will use Video #3 the most. After you learn the basics in Video #1 and #2, you can just start this video up from the beginning and get right to the good stuff during your rehearsals!
