PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Jim Crow Laws: A Close Reading Passage for UPPER ELEMENTARY - This single passage pack is about how Jim Crow laws were implemented in the south after slavery was abolished following the Civil War. See a list of topics and terms below. It was written with 4th graders in mind, but it can easily be used with fifth grade and beyond.

The passage is sized for interactive notebooks. They print 2 on a page and can easily be glued in a social studies notebook. Even if you don't use interactive notebooks, you can still use these passages. The passages will just be a half sheet size, but you won't glue them in a notebook. :-)

The push today in the elementary classroom is to teach kids the skills of close reading; focus on and analyze a shorter passage and hold the details of the passage under a microscope to really examine it. This passage works great for teaching a short reading lesson while also introducing a social studies topic.
