In this highly engaging lesson, students learn the origins and history of Jim Crow laws throughout the United States. Students will complete three activities to develop a full and rich understanding of Jim Crow laws! First, students complete an introductory reading with four guided reading questions. Next, students read a variety of Jim Crow laws and translate them into their own words! Finally, students compare Jim Crow laws to the Black Codes in a web quest.
This resource includes a paper in-class version and a 1:1 Google compatible version to be used in conjunction with Google Classroom. Just follow the included instructions for how to access the Google version, then share the resource through Google or assign via Google Classroom. This will allow students to type directly into the document!
