This is a 60-page unit designed to help teach students in grades 1-4 about various jobs, occupations, and careers that adults may have and is also very appropriate as a Labor Day language activity.
This unit is divided into two parts with easier vocabulary in the first part and more complex vocabulary in the second part.
There are a variety of activities that focus on the following concepts:
1- Flashcards: Vocabulary
2- Who Uses What?–Answering “Who” Questions
3- What Belongs with the Worker?–Associations. Determine tools needed to fulfill tasks.
4- Sentence Strips–Sentence Expansion and Sequencing (based on picture cues)
5- Where Do They Work?–Answering “Where” Questions
6- True and False–Absurdities and Incongruities
7- Tic-Tac-Toe Games–Expressive Language/Game Strategy. Review knowledge of new vocabulary by using appropriate descriptive sentences.
