Updated 4/14/17: Now includes answer document!
This product is a one-page biography on the life of John Brown, one of the most interesting abolitionists in American history. It covers his early life, his rise as an abolitionist and finally the attack at Harpers Ferry, Virginia.
After students have read his life's summary, they can answer five thinking questions (it is a word document should you wish to add more) and/or write a newspaper article as a reporter at Brown's trial. The newspaper article can make a great homework assignment.
I have also used this reading as a launching pad for an in-class essay on the life of John Brown.
This product is included in my "US History Summary Reading Bundle".
