Invite your students to have fun as they learn about people from Oklahoma!
This biography can be used for teaching Local History in Oklahoma and is especially relevant in McIntosh and Tulsa Counties. Great activity sheet for Black History Month, too!
Perfect for reinforcing Language Arts skills, this art-based activity is thoughtfully created to connect the required Social Studies content areas with place-based education that is meaningful to the student. Relevant Oklahoma Academic Standards for the Social Studies, including Process and Literacy Skills (PALS) for Learning, are identified for Grades 2 and 3 so the teacher can use them at either level.
“Teaching Notes” are provided to easily guide the teacher through the activity.
The Student page is ready for students to color in after they read and punctuate; therefore, it makes a great “reward” activity that many teachers use on Friday afternoon. It can also be used on Smart Boards.
Resources for the teacher are identified with hyperlinks.
Look for our other Oklahoma Local History Curriculum biography pages and graphic narratives, too!
