This study is about John, The Apostle. It is meant to be a character study of John but it is meant for us also to see Jesus through the eyes of his beloved disciple, John.
The study examines John's traits, his testimony, and his transformation. In the process, we will see the footsteps of Jesus and learn how to be better disciples of Christ. We will study Bible passages from the Gospel of John, the epistles of John, and the book of Revelation.
Major learning units include:
The Environment Where Jesus and John Grew Up
John, Before Christ (John as seen in the Gospels)
John, the Beloved Disciple (Jesus, according to John)
John, the Pillar of the Church (Church Leader in Acts)
John, Inspired Writer / Revelator (John’s epistles & Rev.)
The purpose of our study of John the Apostle is to bring Glory to God by learning to be better disciples of Christ thru studying John’s example as he imitated Jesus.
This study was conducted at McDonough Christian church, in a weekly adult Bible study group, January thru May 2016. Each session was about an hour long which included mixed media in an interactive format (some lecture, PPT, whiteboard work, discussion and Q & A).
This is the PDF that students were able to access. There will also be a PowerPoint listed separately at a later time suitable for the leader / facilitator with some additional content including speaker notes.
