My students LOVE these Johnny Appleseed activities. These hands-on learning activities include apple measuring, seed estimation and counting, and apple graphing and interpretation.
Johnny Appleseed Day is officially September 26th, so I always celebrate it around the end of September. I ask students to each bring in any shape, color, type of apple for these activities. This download includes recording sheets for the following:
Apple Measuring- Students measure the size of their apple using 3 different objects.
Apple Seed Estimation- Students make a prediction on how many seeds are in their apple. Then I use an apple core to open up each apple. Students then count the actual amount of seeds and let the students count the actual amount of seeds.
Apple Graphing: As a whole class, we graph our apple colors on a piece of chart paper. Then, students use the data to create their own graph. After, students interpret the graph by answering the questions provided.
