Johnny has Gone for a Soldier

SOPRANO SOLO WITH PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT: This song, based on a 1600s Irish tune, is associated with the American Revolutionary War and Civil War. I mainly use it when working with students in the 1800s.

As an arranger, I combined its haunting melody with contemporary piano accompaniment and include a piano solo in the middle. It’s an expressive piece for any woman to sing. Enjoy!
