Strategies to teach: Identifying key terms 'gives away and gets' and determining what type of equation to solve, using a number line, and drawing pictures to solve for the sum or difference.
Also includes: Visual symbols, arm motions for addition and subtraction terms, and hand gestures for joining and separating (hands join together, hands come apart).
