Pg. 15 A Dance Poem – write a poem using “sound words” and other descriptive adjectives from the reading selection
Pg. 16-19 Pointe Shoe Pronouns – copy pages A and B back to back, cut out the boxes, write matching antecedents for each pronoun – glue them side by side in the Pointe Shoe Pronoun book and use them in a sentence on the lines provided
Pg. 20-23 Analogies Concentration – cut the boxes apart -use this game in a small group for concentration – multiple copies can be made – or use it as a class activity by giving each student a card – the students then need to mingle and find their match
Pg. 24-31 Author’s Purpose Dancer Mobile – see pictures on how to put together – copy patterns onto construction paper, cut out, punch holes, fold shirt/top in half and cut both sides out at the same time – do not cut where shoulders are joined – slightly curl head and insert through the head opening in top – lift top and glue torso and legs between shirt/top flaps – color face, color shoes on, add hair by cutting it, and curling it or accordion folding it – glue hair to back and front of dancer – attach skirt and staple it so that it sits on hips –fill out text details and author’s purpose – cut and color starbursts and box – glue box to skirt and attach starbursts to skirt with yarn - can add a hole and yarn to head to hang if needed
Pg. 32-36 Dance Styles – copy pages A and B back to back – choose a male or female dancer – cut out box, cut out foot wheel – attach the wheel behind the window through dots – choose a dance style to research - color
