Attached are blank templates for classroom journals. There are a few different title pages. Have each child select their favorite title page, decorate it, and then sign the cover as the author. Photo copy many blank journal pages (I usually make about 25 for the year.) Give the children topics and have them draw a picture and "write" about it.
Ex. Tell me something that starts with letter M (topic) and the children will draw mothers, monkeys, etc. Encourage them to kid-write on the lines. Even if they write just an M! It is a great way to show parents how the children progress through different writing stages during the year.
