These writing activities are labelled as “Journal Writing” because they prompt students to answer questions, and write about a specific idea/topic in their school journals. Two of the activities have Journal strips you cut out and students choose and glue into their journal what they wish to write about; one involves rolling dice; and the other is about choosing a card to write about.
This pack covers four different writing forms: Persuasive writing, personal recount, procedural writing, and fictional writing.
These activities are ideal to practice those writing styles after being taught, in Grades 1, 2, and 3.
In this pack you will find:
Journal Writing: Would You Rather… (persuasive text)
Journal Writing: Tell Me About It (personal recount)
Journal Writing: Who, What, Where (fictional text)
Journal Writing: Tell Me How To (procedural text)
This can be used as part of "Work on Writing" in Literacy Centres, or as a follow-up writing activity to practice learned skills after a lesson.
