Kids enjoy writing and sharing their writing with their peers.
This journal is designed for just that.
This Journal Writing Booklet includes enough pages for the entire month of August. ( I have a journal available for every month of the school year)
It has a cute front cover that kids can color.
It is designed for the writing method that involves the following steps.
Monday: the teacher reads the story of the week or gives students a writing prompt. Students will use the first page (Plan/Brainstorm) to draw according to the teacher directions.
Tuesday: the students write on their own or copy what teacher has
Wednesday & Thursday: the students revise what they have written, making corrections such as capitalizing words that should be capitalized and adding punctuation marks.
Friday: They share their final draft with the class.
Pages 3 should be duplicated behind page 2 so that page 3 & 4 will be side by side in booklet. That way students can see page 3 when they are revising their story on page 4.
Hope your students enjoy this journal as much as my students have.
I like to keep all the journals till the end of the school year to see how much students have improved in their writing. Then I send them all home at the end of the year for the parents to keep and enjoy.
They also serve as a reminder to students of some of the stories that they listened to during the school year.
