This is an easy way to get your students writing with fun and interesting writing prompts. It will take you a little bit of time to assemble but once you do that the writing prompt sticks are in your room and you will be thankful when your students are stuck on what to write, or when you need them to focus on a writing skill.
There are 9 pages of writing prompts - 50 prompts total. These prompts are appropriate for grades 2-5.
Easy to assemble:
1. Download and print
2. cut out prompts
3. glue of tape them to craft sticks
4. Place them in a clear plastic jar
These are great for whole class as you may wish to pull a prompt from the jar and do a power write about that particular prompt. Or you could have them available for 'fast finishers' or use them when you need a quiet writing time. You might want to focus on one specific writing skill when you use the prompts. These are similar to task cards but on a craft stick for easy storage and display.
You will need to buy/ or have wide craft sticks and also a clear plastic jar. I taped mine to each craft stick using shipping tape. It was easy and protects the writing prompt stick from getting worn.
