This writing activity uses the life lessons provided by author Zora Neale Hurston in Their Eyes Were Watching God. Through writing students explore the life lessons and their applications to student life today in the modern world. This activity can be as in depth as you wish and is easily modified in Word. My students actually created books (including covers and illustrations) throughout our study of the novel. We also took this assignment and created a permanent tile display for our school (information on this activity provided upon request).
