If your school allows you to focus on the religious aspects of Christmas, here is a great slide show for you. “Journey to Bethlehem: The Historical Journey” tells how Joseph and Mary made there way from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Along the way, your students will learn about the landscapes they would have walked through, the dangers and the hardships they would have encountered, and the kind of foods they would have eaten. Once in Bethlehem, they will see the town and the caves that were at journey’s end. The 16-slide show features photographs of real places in Israel, artifacts and foods from Biblical times, and reenactments of the Holy Family. Text on screen is limited so your students can focus on the pictures as you give an oral narration from the three-page script that accompanies this unit. The script is available as a PDF and the slide show is formatted in both Apple’s Keynote and Microsoft’s PowerPoint.
