This packet contains the 2014 & 2017 Journeys Unit 6 sight words which are:down, do, went, only, little, just, have, help, one, every, ask, walk, look, out, very, their, saw, put, off, take, our, day, too, show.
This packet will help your students practice their sight words and build fluency. Since these are Journeys sight words only words that have been already taught are used and spiraled so that students can come back to practice previously learned sight words.
** The exception starting in Unit 4 is the word "can." Due to the order in which words were introduced, the sentences needed a helping word. However, if you are following the curriculum, decodable words should have already been introduced and students should not struggle with the word. **
One of the great things about this packet is that it allows students to work independently once the sight word has been introduced. The use of pictures in the sentences also helps students reinforce beginning sounds.
Each page consists of 4 different sections of practice. Students will first touch the dot under each word and read the sight word 5 times. The next section students will read the sight word sentences. Students will color a star each time they read the sentence. This is where students can really practice their fluency.
In the next section students choose their favorite sentence and write it. In the final section students will read the scrambled words, unscramble them and glue them correctly.
I included a picture as a scaffold for students who need it. There are also capitalization and punctuation clues to help students. I always like to include a mini lesson on sentence structure when we put together scrambled sentences.
I will be listing the other units shortly. Please follow my store to be notified as soon as I list other products. Thanks!
