I wanted to supplement a little extra exposure to the vocabulary words in the Journeys series for my students, so I created vocabulary word mats that are intended to be used with Play-Doh!
My students LOVE using Play-Doh and now they are excite to use it for their vocabulary lessons! I have these cards available during my Daily 5/literacy center rotations. Students choose a card, roll the Play-Doh to create individual letters and place them on the cards. I have also included recording sheets for the students to either write their vocabulary word in a sentence or they can define it.
These cards include 15 lessons of 8 words and 15 lessons of 10 words from the third grade Houghton Mifflin Journeys series. The final 5 lessons have words repeated from earlier stories, but I have included them, also. Each card/word is labeled with the corresponding lesson to help stay organized.
There is no color ink involved! I simply printed the pages onto colored paper and laminated them. I then cut the pages in half and paper-clipped them together and stuck them in my Journeys folders. Very easy! :)
