This is a fun drawing activity to accompany reading lessons or a novel study of Journey, the middle grades novel by Patricia MacLachlan.
It includes three activity sheets, each one based on one of the photos described in the story: Grandfather's family photo taken when the family looked up at the airplane, the torn photo of the baby's hand, and Journey's family photo taken just after Bloom had her kittens.
For each activity sheet, students use the text to find details about one particular photo and then draw what they imagine the photo looked like.
These activities support reading standards including the use of text-based evidence and reading independently and proficiently.
The Easel version is ready to use with directions and answer boxes for student use.
