Writing Spelling Words is a great way to jump start your students' brains and responsibility in the morning. This is something I use along with Daily Proofreading Practice (also on sale in my TPT store) to begin the day. It provides your students with spelling practice, handwriting practice, and a creativity outlet. Every page has a box located on the second page (which will be the back of the worksheet you print out) to illustrate a spelling word, a sentence, or simply to write a sentence- that is your choice. I have also included Spelling and Vocabulary Illustration pages, along with two Spelling test forms.
I use the Writing Spelling Words sheet on Mondays and Wednesdays. Then, I use the Spelling Illustrations on Tuesdays and the Vocabulary Illustrations page on Thursdays. The students can choose to do the Word Find on Fridays for fun (which they usually beg to do). We pass these off to their shoulder partner or face partner to let them highlight the words they find.
It is just a simple sheet that won't take long- no more than 5-10 minutes for your average student. The illustrations pages take a little longer, but I love seeing the way they interpret their words each week. It never matters how often we do these, my students love them. They also continue to get better and better as the year goes by.
I also have a pencil pack in my room where students with perfect handwriting get to use a lead pencil. (I hate sharpening pencils!) It is amazing how this sheet can also help with having nice, neat handwriting.
Every part of this PDF uses black ink, so it is inexpensive to print out. Thank you for your purchase and please check out my other products on TPT!
