My kiddos have loved to play "Score Four”. It is a great game to review spelling patterns and phonics rules-especially for those who struggle with these concepts. We play during RTI and small group time. I even copy the game boards on the back of my spelling list for practice at home.
The game is played like “Connect Four”. Students take turns reading and covering a word to get four in a row or column. Once the word is covered, the student tries to spell the word from memory. Game continues until one partner ‘scores four’.
I have included a game board that focuses on the spelling pattern and high frequency words for ALL stories in Unit SIX. There is also a game board that has 49/50 high frequency words and one that is a compilation of all of the spelling skills for each unit. You will receive seven game boards for each unit.
Game Boards are based on the following stories:
The Mysterious Tadpole
The Dog that Dug for Dinosaurs
Working in Space
Two of Everything
Now and Ben
Happy learning and thanks for looking!
