Product Description

Here is a collection of FREEBIES that correlate to Journeys SECOND Grade Unit FIVE. I use these supplemental resources during whole group, small group, work stations/RTI, and for homework. They can be used as a test review or for an actual assessment. You are able to pick and choose to differentiate for your students.

In this FREE download, you will receive a sample of each of the following resources. I hope you and your students enjoy them!

STORY COMPANIONS

The booklet reviews the spelling/phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension skills for the week. I provide an answer key for the comprehension section.

FORTUNE TELLERS

These are probably my student’s FAVORITE activity!

Run single sided. Students cut along dotted line and can use the bookmark to practice the phonics and vocabulary skill for the week. The cootie catcher/fortune teller is folded and students can work together to quiz each other over the comprehension skill for the week.

GRAMMAR FLIP'n'FOLD BOOKLETS

These are many teachers’ FAVORITE activity!

Run single sided. Students fold horizontally and then vertically. The flip-n-fold booklet can then be used to review the grammar skill for the week.

BOGGLE

Students use the BOGGLE Board to create words that correlate with the phonics/spelling skill for the week. Students LOVE to create words during their word work time. It is fun, yet challenging for all. In the full set, you will receive two boards for each story which allows for differentiation. One follows the spelling pattern. The other asks students to create words that have a connection with the story.

Score FOUR

Score FOUR has been a favorite activity for my students who struggle with spelling and phonics. The game is played with a partner like Connect Four. Once the student has covered the word, they try to spell the word from memory. Then it is the next players turn. Students try to get four in a row or column in order to ‘win’. The full set has a game board for each unit, as well as, one that has all high frequency words and spelling words.

ROLL AND RESPOND VOCABULARY CARDS

These are vocabulary cards and an activity for one of the stories.

SIGHT WORD BRACELETS

Especially designed to reinforce the sight words for each story. These bracelets help those children who struggle to learn the sight words.

WORD WORK TRIFOLDS

A Pocketful of Word Work is a tri-fold that focuses on the spelling and phonics pattern for the week.

The Write Stuff

The Write Stuff is a collection of graphic organizers, writing prompts, and writing papers for each story. Many stories have a fiction and nonfiction option.
