Some tools to make your job a little easier... 10 to 11 Focus Wall Posters for every lesson! Daily Proofreading book, Class Flashcards, Mini Individual Flashcards, Send Home Spelling Papers, and a letter for your parents... I got you covered for every lesson in unit 3!
Pg. 3-9 Flash Cards –I run each unit off onto different colored cardstock, place a rubber band around each unit – I make 12 copies of each unit – each unit has its own colored cardstock – I keep all six units in their own index card box (six different colors in a box)– I number each box as well as number each set of index cards (on the back) with the corresponding number to that box – that way - if one is left on the ground you know exactly what box it belongs to – I do not laminate these – the cardstock seems to hold up well – one box for every two students - they test their reading buddy each day with these cards
Pg. 10-11 Individual Flash Cards – these are run off on the same colored cardstock as the large flash cards – cut them out and punch a hole in each one – attach them to a small ring – you can adjust these cards and take off the words they have passed and add new ones – for individual practice
Pg. 12 illustration of finished product
Pg. 13-18 Send Home Spelling Homework – copy page A and B back to back – this is for home practice – the students return it on Friday completed
Pg. 19 Parent Letter – You can send this letter home to the parents so they can hang it on their fridge and practice the words with their child each night– it has all the High-Frequency Words and all the spelling words on it for this unit
Pg. 20-75 Focus Wall Posters! –- I set up a Journeys Wall to add my posters to for each lesson – a great teaching tool – I laminated these and use Velcro on the back so I can pull each one off the wall and use them when I am teaching my students that concept.
Pg. 76-95 Daily Proof Reading Practice – these can be copied off and stapled right on your copy machine to form a book – or use them as single pages that you pass out each day – I teach handwriting at this time as well
Pg. 96 Thanks and credits
