Pg. 3 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 …That’s How Many Fish You Need to Color! - color the fish depending on how they end – write the words in the matching shapes
Pg. 3 Spelling Art – roll the dice to see what color you will write your spelling words – choose 4 spelling words to draw and label
Pg. 5-7 Singular and Plural Nouns – cut our the singular nouns and match them to their plural version – glue the top tab to create a flap you can lift
Pg. 8-11 Rhyme Time – copy pages A and B back to back – fold and cut on the dotted lines to create flaps – cut out boxes with stars on page C (enough for two students) – match the rhyming words to the words on the flaps - lift the flaps to glue the two rhyming words underneath
Pg. 12 Color the Trees in the Rainbow Forest – s clusters
Pg. 13 – 14 Match the ANTonyms! - cut out the ants and match the opposites – can be played as a concentration game for more of a challenge – can be laminated
Pg. 15- 17 The Strange Animal That Came to School – I can be an author and illustrator too! -copy pages back to back -cut and staple to form small books - it’s the student’s chance to write a story about a creature that they create in their imagination – use the “My Help” Book to help with word choice – great time to discuss graphics
Pg. 18 My Help Book! Telling How Things Look ! – a foldable book – because it’s hard for first graders to come up with words on their own! – use this book to help with their animal story.
Pg. 19 – 27 Everyone Has Something to Share – a cute writing project – put students with biography buddies – they have to write a biography about each other – there is a sheet for girls and one for boys – put a cute snapshot in the star or have them draw a picture of their buddy – choice of colors for the star frames – glue onto construction paper
Pg. 28 – 31 The Turtle Stack – play this game like Go Fish – stack your turtle matches in front of you – whoever has the most turtles stacked by the end of the game wins!
