Pg. 5-6 Cause and Effect – copy page A and B back to back – fold on the solid line, cut on the dotted lines – look at the picture, flip it up and draw a possible effect

Pg. 8-11 Antonyms – opposites! - use these cards as a small group concentration game or with a larger group - give each student a card and have them walk around the room searching for another student with the matching antonym
Pg. 12-13 Sun “u” Words – cut out the sun, cut along the dotted lines, cut out paper strips with letters, insert letter strips through the sun – move the strips up and down to create words
Pg. 14-15 My “u” book! – copy pages A and B back to back – use this book to record the “u” words that you made with the sun and letter strips
Pg. 16 Color the “u” words – color all the “u” words yellow and all the other words blue

Pg. 18-26 Let’s Make a Word! - a game for 2-4 players – choose a letter card from the pile and see if you can make a new word by adding the letter to the end of each word, if you can’t, return the letter to the pile and lose your turn, if you pick up a letter muncher, you lose a turn – whoever fills up their board first – wins!
Pg. 27-29 My Laptop! Just add your name! – fold a piece of black paper, put the label on top, put the picture and keys in the inside – draw what you might see and write about it
Pg. 30 In My Opinion! – use with Curious George or with the main reading selection
Pg. 31-32 Practice using the High-Frequency Words “do” and “down” – draw a picture to illustrate it, write a sentence using it, and write the word in color five different times by rolling the dice to pick your color
Pg. 33-44 Stack the Pancakes! – a review of all the high-frequency words – you can use a spatula to make it fun but it’s not necessary – take turns picking a pancake up with a spatula, reading it, and putting it on your plate – if you read it incorrectly you have to return it to the pile and lose your turn – whoever has the most pancakes stacked on their plate by the end of the game wins- 2-4 players
