An important part of the social studies curriculum is an introduction to world religions. This packet provides an introduction to the three major monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. These belief systems are studied as a unit because of their common roots and their current interconnections in today's world on political, social and religious planes. It includes the origins and founder of each religion, the holy book, place of worship and most basic beliefs. The goal is to give students of every background a basic understanding of these three faiths so that they can better understand the complexity and significance of religious belief, and have some common ground with which to begin a dialogue with people of differing faiths. The culminating activity is a Document Based Question comparative essay.
