24 Questions that ask students to compare and contrast the Judeo-Christian and Greco-Roman traditions. There are 4 questions in the preview file but the full file has 24.
These questions are designed to help students address, and teachers access, California Standard 10.1 Students relate the moral and ethical principles in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, in Judaism, and in Christianity to the development of Western political thought.
It ESPECIALLY addresses Standard 10.1.1:
Analyze the similarities and differences in Judeo-Christian and Greco-Roman views of law, reason and faith, and duties of the individual.
Teaching this particular topic was challenging for me for a long time because in my view, even standards-aligned textbooks don't do an adequate job of focusing on those three topics when it comes to the two historical traditions. Creating these questions was my solution.
The questions are provided in both Word format and an Examview Test Bank file, so that teachers have a full range of options to use them, and no need to retype them to make worksheets, etc.
----> Important Note: The word file and test bank provided in this download are included elements of my "Mini Course" on this topic. That download also includes a Smart Board sorting activity to help teach the topic prior to using these questions to assess it. If you are going to download the mini course there is no need to purchase the questions separately -- they are included in the mini course. They are repeated as a separate item so that teachers without Smart Boards, who might rule out the mini-course, can still find questions to teach with and use for assessment. These questions can be used to teach the unit whether or not you also have the sorting activity.
