Using the book, "Juice Box Bully" by Bob Sornson and Maria Dismonday, you will teach, through characters' actions, what bullying is, who the bystanders are, who the target is, and who the allies are. This lesson plan meets Reading Literature standards 1 (key details), 2 (retelling the story), 3 (character, settings, major events), 4 (unknown words to understand the story), 5 (structure of the story), and 6 (point of view), for 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. You can use the activities to adapt for kids who need more or less.
*Your students will truly understand the story as they analyze characters, the theme, the scenes in the story, plot, and resolution.
*I've included 3 pages of detailed lesson plans with comprehension questions w/answers, directions for each graphic organizer, and class activities, including making a poster about bullying to hang up in the school, listing 5 ways to stop bullying, making inferences, and what the juice box stain means.
