An active learning, yet fun, task designed to ensure that students are familiar with vocabulary relevant to Act 5 of the play by William Shakespeare.
There are 25 words in the crossword. These include difficult words from the text, and keywords which students should know to enable them to discuss this act.
Words in the puzzle are.. Bidding, Bills, Bondage, Enclosed, Enemy, Ensign, Entrails, Envy, Flee, Hark, Misconstrued, Mourn, Noble, Parley, Peril, Presage, Retreat, Slain, Suicide, Sword, Tidings, Triumvir, Villain, Wing, and Wreath.
Although students often see the puzzle format as a fun task, it is an active learning activity which helps them with spelling and comprehension of new words. This is also the type of activity that you could use as a 'filler' when you have nothing else prepared.
A word bank is supplied to support students. You could redact this to make the puzzle more challenging.
The solution is printed on the second page. Download the preview file to see the solution and the grid.
