37 word crossword puzzle (with solution) based on the play by William Shakespeare
This is a summary quiz, designed to be used after studying the play. It could be used as a homework assignment or as a filler exercise in class if you have nothing else prepared. I find that students enjoy the crossword format and often don't see it as work, although it is quite challenging.
There are 37 clues - each is the name of a character or a place. I've added as much detail as possible into the clues, so that students are learning while they work on this activity, for example..
* Clue text for Lepidus - One of the ruling Triumvirate after the death of Caesar. Antony compares him to his horse. Octavius says he's a valiant soldier (7)
* Clue text for Calpurnia - Caesar’s wife who places great faith in omens and portents. As a result of a nightmare, she tries to persuade Caesar to stay home on the Ides of March (9)
A word bank is included to assist students. You could redact this to make it more challenging.
