This product includes two culminating activities for the play Julius Caesar. Students will be working on both assignments simultaneously, or they can only do one if you choose. For the courtroom activity, students will be conducting a mock trial of Brutus and Cassius, trying to prove whether they should be punished for the murder of Julius Caesar. The 40 page document includes simple and thorough instructions, prep sheets (a blank version and partially pre-filled version with examples from the text) for each member of the trial (attorneys, witnesses, jury, and others--40 roles total), an overview of basic courtroom procedures, timeline, character descriptions, descriptions of each role, and rubric. The other activity is an essay where students will argue the same--are Brutus and Cassius ruthless killers or justified patriots. Included for this assignment are requirements for the essay, brainstorming sheet, and rubric. This activity allows students to creatively and kinesthetically demonstrate their thorough understanding of the play in a fun way.
