Lead students through an in-depth (common core aligned) analysis of Brutus's and Antony's funeral speeches.
The speeches are divided into three sections. For each section, students follow annotation instructions on the text and answer short-answer skills-based questions in the margin. These annotations help students answer the 20 corresponding multiple choice questions about each section of the speeches.
The three sections could be done as stations or as three separate lessons or assignments. Grading options include one 60 question grade or three 20 question grades. I also grade the annotations.
One year, I did the first section with them, they did the second section in pairs, and then they completed the third section individually (like a quiz). Great scaffolding!
These 60 multiple choice questions (3 sets of 20) can be completed on the included answer sheets or on scantrons for quicker grading.

Check out my Julius Caesar Comic Strips. I use them as active reading/paraphrasing guides to keep students engaged while they read.
