This past school year I had so many lower functioning and/or non-verbal students on my case load. Their parents kept asking for ideas to do with them at home, but at the time I couldn't find a list of activities to give the parents that was developmentally appropriate for their child...so I created this!
Most speech therapy homework calendars require children to have expressive language abilities to participate in recommended activities, but this daily calendar is designed to provide suggestions of activities caregivers can do at home with young or lower functioning children who may be non-verbal. NO EXPRESSIVE LANGUAGE SKILLS ARE NEEDED to complete any of these activities. Each week contains activities that target areas of common weaknesses.
The first week focuses on name/letter recognition and summer related vocabulary.
The second week targets body part vocabulary and fine motor skills with sensory activities.
The third week targets play/social skills and the descriptive concepts of long/short.
The fourth week targets play/social skills, shape/color vocabulary, and the location words on/in/under.
The fifth week targets weather related vocabulary.
Included in this download:
-Parent Letter explaining the calendar
-July calendar with 31 different daily activities
-3 book companions that correspond with calendar themes
