This file contains a full lesson plan for one class period performed on grades K-3, but can be easily modified for higher grades depending on your creativity to challenge your students. This particular lesson focuses on Jump Rope and Line Dancing. The lesson plan includes a warm-up using an exercise of the week which is provided or you can use your own exercise/warm-up. Then the lesson will include a couple of activities using diagrams/ pictures of layouts for the activities for jumping rope. The skills will focus on some short rope jumping and some long rope jumping. If you are worried about having the music for the line dance, don’t worry….it can be easily accessed on YouTube for your students to follow along with after the teacher demonstration with the class. This file is a good way to get away from the traditional teachings and it allows the students to not only incorporate the basic skills for jumping rope, but allows for another avenue of a lifetime of fitness in dancing. Try this activity if you want a couple basic jump roping skills and a line dance to change things up in your classes. Enjoy!
