Description
Written in a e-zine style, this high-interest informational text will introduce your students to the Juneteenth holiday and its significance. The resource can be used separately, or as a supplement to other materials, including my Juneteenth Celebration - Report Study Pages.
Learners will discover the answer to several questions about Juneteenth, including
- why some people in the United States remained enslaved more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation
- what the Juneteenth flag symbolizes, and
- which state was the first to officially recognize June 19th as a state holiday
Discussion questions are included at the end.
