In the 60”s Laurel Burch was selling her art in the streets of San Francisco, but by the late 90’s she is a nationally known artist. Her bold stylized designs come from a very imaginative spirit. Although best known for her cats, I personally found her jungle images mesmerizing and joyous. Having visited the Amazon several times, I chose her style to introduce a rainforest landscape art lesson to my students.
The rainforests is teaming with rare species of plants and animals. Due to man’s encroachment with cattle ranches, deforestation, and population growth, today approximately only 6% remain. Located in band around the equator, there are rainforests in South and Central America, Africa, Oceania and Asia. There are only two seasons wet and dry . Rainforests are very dense, warm, wet forests. they are havens for rare plants and animals.
